OH OH OH ON VIDEO

VIDEO

One of our favorite things about Winter is that Spring is coming next. One of our favorite things about Spring is going to Austin for SXSW. One of our favorite things about going to SXSW is that we get to hit Denton on the way. One of our favorite things about hitting Denton is getting to be around dudes like Video and Bad Sports and Wiccans and Fungi babies and blah blah blah. Video rules. TV’s Daniel [Bad Sports, Wax Museums] and Greg [Bad Sports] are both in Video alongside Harpal and Payton. Those boys just have that midas touch apparently. They play the fast catchy riffage that you just looooove to listen to. They’ve yet to release anything, but our money’s on a release in the near future with Play Pinball Records. Since we mentioned Bad Sports and Denton and Austin, let’s just go ahead and tell you that the new Bad Sports LP [Douchemaster] is totally boss and there’s a compilation coming out soon featuring lots of Austin/Denton in the near future [There’s also a comp coming out on Play Pinball featuring only Denton bands, the two mp3zies down there will be on it] Get  ’em!!

SCHOOL'S OUT

JOSH SHEARON FLYER

Baby baby baby. we couldn’t be more stoked for this one. School Jerks, who we talked about a little while ago, put out one of our favorite 7″s this year [on Riff Raff] and they’re hitting the town this Wednesday alongside The Cannomen, Natural Child, and The Crumbs. Contrary to popular? unpopular? some sort of belief, The Crumbs are a real band, and they rule. This is their second show [the first was that Natural Child 7″ release show at Glenn Danzig’s House] so definitely make sure to check it out. Doubly, this is the last Glenn Danzig’s House show for the rest of 2009!! The guys over there have had us over for some pretty gnarly shows this year [Bad Sports, Ty Segall, Mantles, Woven Bones, Yussuf Jerusalem, Grooms, Heavy Days, Cheap Time, Symptoms, Aerosols, Failures, Scapegoat, Liquor Store….. oh oops, we haven’t told you about those last 4 yet] So finish your finals and your essays and your Christmas lists and Chanukah lists and Metallikah lists [metalhead holiday] and come out to Glenn Danzig’s on Wednesday.

THE-RUNDOWN

Yeah yeah yeah, we were a little shoddy on the blogmanship last week: no Rundown, very little “band-a-day” activity… But, hey, these things happen. If you made it out to the Halcyon party on Saturday, you witnessed us bringing the noise and the party. Kind of. It was more Mas Tacos and Halcyon and Jamin and Willy T [who’s record collection we are insanely jealous of] that brought the party. So, to all the aforementioned, an extra big thank you and we think you’re all dreamboats. Really really really though, we luff you guys.

STILL SEARCHING

If you tuned in yesterday to the radio show, you probably got to hear some pretty weird stuff. But you also probably got to hear a new Daniel Pujol demo [We played “May Day”] Don’t feel bad if you missed out, because you can steeeel check it out over at Daniel’s myspace. Not to mention new versions of just about all his songs. There’s even a little link down at the bottom of this post where you can digi-download his new steez. He’s so good to us. He’s got a tour lined up for early 2010 but he needs to find a drummer. Is it you? If you think it could be, and you want to get in touch with him, shoot us an email at ben@nashvillesdead.com or message Daniel on myspace [We think myspace is going to have a mega-resurgance in the new year. Or Friendster. Or Buddytown. Maybe] Anyways, check out these jams. Jam ’em in your jam box.

Daniel’s got a new tape out on Infinity Cat. Scoop it! Rumors of a Daniel Pujol/So Jazzy split cassette have been circulating lately, we’ll keep you posted.

JTB-MALES '010 TOUR

This might be the best tour we’ve seen in a while [well, since JEFF and Ty toured together back in August and September] Screaming Females and JEFF the Brotherhood are touring together in the early part of 2010 for about a month. Including a stop in Nashville on Feb. 17th at The End. Scremales have come down here multiple times, and we’d like to think that they might consider Nashville as a second home. Check out the tour dates by clicking that thing and if you haven’t scooped up Heavy Days or Power Move yet, you are really missing out on 2 of the best albums to come out this year. FOR SERIOUS, GUYS!

HITTINTHEWAVES

Please tell us you caught our show this week. Pleeeease. It was the best show ever. We probably broke the record for most shout-outs and call-ins during a one hour WRVU program. Seriously, it had to have been around 40 or more callers. It might be a little bit before we get this whole streaming podcasty thing going, so for now just check out what we played.

A BIT STRANGER [12.10.2009]

The Misfits // Last Caress

CHOICES… LIKE THE THREE-6 ALBUM

So, every once in a while, the middle Tennessee area offers a couple of really great shows that fall on the same night. This Saturday is one of those “once in a whiles”. YEAH [who are maybe making the biggest impact on a community in the shortest time ever] are having a killer show this Saturday featuring the returned Caitlin Rose and Those Darlins, with Six Gun Lullaby to top it off. Oh, and this show is a benefit for the YEAH space, so you can feel good about what you’re doing and then go drool over some of Nashville/Murfreesboro’s finest. Oh, and it’s kind of a matinee… starts with a private Caitlin Rose show at 6ish. Then Six Gun then Darlins then dance party.

halcyonflyer

We have some conflicting plans seeing as we’ll be busy throwing down some wax trax over at Halcyon Bike Shop for their 1st birthday party. That shinding starts at 2PM with an Alley Cat race starting at Centennial Park and ending at 3PM at the shop [There’s a $5 entry fee] From 3 until ??? we will be partying at the shop with tacos and booze and good music provided by: Willy T, Jamin Orrall, Whit Smith, and us. After that, just down the street at the Hanging Arm, there’s a great show with Big&Tall, Lazy Magnet, Heavy Cream, and No Compassion. This one ends early though [right around 10ish] but apparently the party just moves to Betty’s B& G after that where bands will keep playing. Who doesn’t love field trips? So, there you go babies, a decision for you to make….
