BETTER THAN YOUR BOOK CLUB

Oh man the wind is blowing up a gale and cold front coming in and it’s getting darker earlier — that mean’s it’s getting to be the real partiers’ time of year. Every Fall and Winter is the best time for us to get together with all the bebs from ’round town and jam on some records on the insides. This winter’s looking like we’ll be getting some extra special treats as a part of the Social Music Record Club. The bad boys are hooking it up bigtime with 9 exclusive LPs and a 7″ for only $99. That’s a pretty sick deal, especially considering who you’ll be getting releases from [Ty Segall, Jacuzzi Boys, Sir Richard Bishop, The Bats, Woven Bones, Abner Jay — wait, give us a sec…. k, just changed our pants] And in case you were wondering, the Abner Jay record is being compiled by Jay Martin who oversaw the Abner record that Mississippi just put out recently, so you know it’ll be badass. The idea of Ty Segall’s “folk record” literally has us covered in goosebumps of anticipation. They’ve got it all spelled out over at the Social Music site [where you can go ahead and sign up and paypal them] Here’s the cover for the Jacuzzi Boys release, Seahawks and Peacocks

For a whole rundown of what they’re offering in this pack — check below. They’re also offering a cassette package for cheaper [if that’s your thing] This just made our Christmas shopping so much easier.

SNAKES IN MY VEINS

CRAZY SPIRIT

It has been a hot minute since the last time we heard of any real sick stuff coming out of New York [except for Liquor Store] but that’s all changed since we got the new Crazy Spirit 7″. I mean, it’s not all that new — and we’ve been jamming their old demo cassette from last year for a bit, but still. Walker and Sam talked earlier this year with MRR about how the band started up and drawing influences from Discharge and 80s Brazilian hardcore [can’t go wrong with that] Read it here. Their S/T 7″ just came out a little bit ago on Toxic State — so hit those guys up if you wanna buy a copy. Forillytho — this rules. Check out a track below…

The Rundown – 10.25.10 – 10.30.10

In honor of Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos — we’re gonna write this little paragraph in Spanish. Ready?

WHY WAS SIX AFRAID OF SEVEN?

Everybody stoked for tonight? Everybody got your fakes ready and your dancing shoes on? Good. Because we’re DJing tonight and we’re gonna get you grooving real good and then The 5.6.7.8’s are just gonna clean knock your shoes off. We already made mention of the show earlier this week but we figured we’d make another for a couple reasons: [1] it’s a real slow day [2] we’re gonna be DJing [3] we needed an excuse to post a picture of that poster [4] real slow day. You know how these things typically go, so if you haven’t already bought your tickets for tonight you might wanna hit the line early because the place is gonna pack out. And if you want a little taste of the kind of things we’ll be serving up tonight… check the track below

THE LAST REAL JOURNEYMAN

Well well well, if it’s not the hardest working person in the world… Juiceboy has done it again. He’s hitting the interwebs up with another new mixtape and taking everybody back to the Thunderzone [and outta the Darkness] Now you should all be well aware at this point that we’re mondo Juiceboxxx fans, and you’re probably aware that we’re huge Springsteen fans too — so just imagine at how excited and stoked we were when we first saw this artwork. Click it and it’ll take it directly to where you can download the new mixtape. FORILLYTHO YOU WANNA DOWNLOAD THAT! CLICK IT!

In other Juiceboy news — the bad boy was just in town a little bit ago working on some new material with none other than the brothers Orrall. We’ll get to hear it one day — and we’ll never have to worry about the darkness again.

NEVER GO TO BED

In case you’re unaware or haven’t heard yet — OFF! just released their debut EP on VICE and it totally kills. For those still unaware — OFF! is a band formed last year featuring Keith Morris, Dimitri Coats, Mario Rubalbcaba, and Steven McDonald [which equals Black Flag – Circle Jerks – Burning Brides – Earthless – Hot Snakes – Rocket From the Crypt – Redd Kross] So now if someone ever asks you, “How do you spell ‘supergroup’ ?” You can just respond with “O-F-F”. They’re playing tomorrow night in NYC [with our favorites, Liquor Store] but it doesn’t look like there’s going to be any national touring anytime soon — which is a mega bummer. They’ve also revealed plans to release First Four EPs — an EP boxset to come out in late November on VICE. They’ve also got Raymond Pettibon on board doing artwork for all the releases. Yeesh. Really wishing we were gonna be in New York for this one…

Buncha cool rockin’ daddys. Order it here. They’re also selling limited OFF! tees from their myspace designed by Raymond [only 300 made – so jump on it]

NO IBUPROFEN REQUIRED

ROYAL HEADACHE

Who doesn’t love jangly guitars? Or four Australian bad boys [we really tricked you with that photo up there] That’s what I thought. Royal Headache sound like they could be long lost brothers of Jersey’s Home Blitz — which, to us, is a good thing. They’ve been kicking around the outback for a little over a year now and have a couple releases under their belts [mostly contributions to various comps, but more recently a S/T 7″ on R.I.P. Society and a full length coming soon from the same label] We’re finally starting to pull our denims and leathers out — so blast this shit one last time for summer. The only place you can pick up the 7″ now is at the Goner Store — so get on it before they’re totally sold out. OK, Monopoly is back on at McDonald’s so we gonna go try and get rich [just got St. Charles Place and North Carolina Ave — anyone?] DIE TRYING

Royal Headache – Splash [mp3]
