SIXTH TIMES A CHARM

Atlanta’s finest have been working hard over the last couple weeks piecing together and recording their sixth full length album in New York, and Rolling Stone has an exclusive video giving a sneak peak into the record. Word on the street is that they recorded around 30 or so songs to widdle down for the record [which is being produced by Mark Ronson and released by VICE] We feel pretty confident saying that this record is gonna kill. I mean, if Cole is saying he’s been listening to a lot more Pete Drake and judging by the couple of songs they’ve contributed to some singles clubs — we really are getting stoked for the new year [album supposed to come out in Abril] If anyone else is down — we might head to A-town this weekend [Nov. 27th] to catch them playing some of the new digs with Those Darlins at Variety Playhouse. YAYEE YAYEE. Click below to see a funny picture of Cole in the studio and to watch the video…

WORLD WIRES TOO

WHITE WIRES

We’re still spinning that Peach Kelli Pop record we talked about a while ago and we just realized that the new White Wires record actually comes out tomorrow. The Canucks are some real hard working bebs — they’re first full length came out not too long ago on Going Gaga [re-released later by Douchemaster] they did a ton of touring this year, put out a split 7″ with Mean Jeans, and we couldn’t get enough. The new album, WWII, is being released by Dirtnap Records [which is also where the new Bad Sports album will be coming from in early 2011 — can’t think of a better home for either of these bands] Sample a track from the new album below…

THE RUNDOWN – 11.22.10 – 11.28.10

We got a good feeling about this week. That’s not to say we don’t have good feelings about a lot of weeks — but you know. Got a week lined up full of some of our favorite locals playing around again [PUJOL’s back, D. Watusi and The Clutters, Little Viking tape release, Willy T’s new record drops, blah blah blah] So let’s all take a break from school and work and be thankful that we’re all here in Nashville and that we rock and roll harder than any other city in the world. That is the truth.

IT’S DOOMSDAY NOW

We know you can’t go to clicks on the internet anymore without hitting something that has to do with either PUJOL or Jack White, but who’s gonna complain about that, right? The bad boy himself had a little conversation with the nice people at SPIN Magazine and they posted the smash hit “Too Safe” for download [We went ahead and made a little link at the bottom there where you can go listen to it and download it if you wanna — we suggest doing that and snagging the wax too because it sound so sick on the tables] Anyways, have a good weekend and we’ll see you bebs at the shows. PEACE

CLICK CLICK BOOM…GATES

We were cruising the Goner site the other day and noticed that the new Bright Idea single from Boomgates is finally available! Boomgates, from Melbourne, Australia, are one of Brendan from Eddy Current Suppression Ring’s sidebands. In the same vein as ECSR, it’s really good — but from a different angle. Brendan’s vocals countered by Steph’s female vocals create a whole new pop dynamic that we can’t get enough of. Now that we think about it, it’s sort of an outback supergroup [Brendan from ECSR, Rich from The Twerps, Steph from Dick Diver, and Shaun from probably something] It just came out on RIP Society [we’ve mentioned them a couple times on here — quickly becoming our favorite Aussie label] so be sure to scoop a copy.

TOO MANY E.P.D.S

EVAN DONOHUE

There’s a couple EPDs in this town, so let us go ahead and make some clear distinctions so no one gets confused. One EPD is Evan P. Donohue and he is a singer/songwriter. His first full length album, Rhythm & Amplitude, came out in the Fall last year and he’s set to put out a brand new cassette this weekend with a release show featuring Natalie Prass, Space Ghost Cowboys, and Ramona Cordova.  He’s super nice and sent us a track for you bebs to listen to down there. The other EPD is a bunch of ruthless singer/swagwriter bad boys that run the streets of Nashville. EPD, which stands for Extreme Pleasure Dudes, are always out giving their all for Tennessee and giving their all for your girl — so watch out. No word as to when they’ll be playing a show or dropping any material — but you know we’ll keep you posted.
