Well, should we waste time or should we just get down to brass tacks? Whatever, here we go… We’ve been working on this stuff for a good bit now and it’s finally time to announce that we’re officially jumping into the realm of record labels. That up there is our first release — and we couldn’t be more stoked about it. It’s a Useless Eaters single for “Space City” b/w “Market Rat” and it should be out right around holiday time [so if you’re looking for a good cheap gift to get a buddy, there’s your answer] The second single, which should come mid-January, is from one of our favorite local bands — The Paperhead [formerly The Looking Glass] The single features “Yellowbook” b/w “Dear Mr. Vacant”. Those Paperhead boys have some pretty sick bizness of their own going on that they’ll tell you about later. We’ve got a whole lot more in the works for the 2011 year [more singles and LPs than we know what to do with] If you would like to nerd out with us for a bit, click below and we’ll give you the skinny on how we’re gonna run most of this stuff…
CORAL BRAINS
We’ve been waiting a bit for this one, but we’re pretty psyched about it. VICE/Scion are releasing the Nobunny/Jacuzzi Boys split tomorrow [not sure how many copies of this they’ll get over at Grimey’s, but you oughtta hit it up if you’ve been keeping up with the series] We’d also like to take a time-out to show some similarities between J-Boys and the Nobunz: both had killer 2009 albums [No Seasons, First Blood] both are booked by our old buddy Peter, both have live LPs from Third Man Records [Jacuzzi’s isn’t out yet, but still], both know how to rock and to roll, and both love Nashville. So we guess it’s only fitting that they do a split 7″ with each other. Check out the tracks below.

WITCH PUNK
I used to go to school with a girl who’s last name was Wickens. She wasn’t a witch or anything, but she was a bebe and I was totally under her spell. Oogum Boogum stylee. These Wiccans hail from Denton, TX and will tear you apart. They just had a 4-song 7″ come out on Pass Judgement Records not too long ago and its one of our favorites to come out this year. They sound sort of like a fucked up Fucked Up. Ya know? Whatever. The bad boys are coming to town early in the new year [Jan 3rd at Glenn Danzig’s House with The Cannomen, SLAMMERS, and Heavy Cream] So be sure to hit it up.

THE RUNDOWN – 11.29.10 – 12.5.10
So who all is ready for November to be dead and gone forever? Us! Not gonna lie, that was a pretty boring month. This week looks like things will be picking up though so don’t worry — including the debut performance of former So Jazzy front man Whit Smith doing some new solo material. You know that’s gonna rule. Anyways, go purge those Thanksgiving leftovers and get ready to party.

MINDLESS CONTENTMENT: UV RACE
MINDLESS CONTENTMENT is a new running series here which will feature anything that’s on the mind of Seth [Useless Eater] Unlike most of the stuff on this site — it’s pretty fucking worthwhile. This first one is an interview he did with Melbourne’s UV RACE. Check it out…
UV RACE are probably one of the most authentic bands of the past decade. And it is no surprise that they come from Melbourne, Australia, which has produced some of the best groups as of recent. Their S/T LP was one of my favorite records of last year and they have an upcoming LP coming out on In The Red Records sometime next year.
Here is a brief interview with 3/6th of UV RACE:
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Hello our favorites, we’re going to be not posting today or tomorrow and instead partying hard because DD666 is in town for a minute. We suggest that you all do the same. We’ve got lots to be thankful for this year and want to just give a giant blanket-thank you to everyone in Nashville and say that we couldn’t be more grateful for everything any of you have/haven’t done. You the best. ALWAYS AND FOREVER. Catch us and a Useless Eater on the ones and twos tonight if you know where at.
WE JUST WANNA PARTY
Our buddies over at VBS and Scion [Can you believe those guys gave us cars? How wild is that? Just kidding. But, hey Scion if you wanna you’re welcome to] have been working on this little documentary about garage and punk and it’s current state in America/the world/mainstream media/whatever. Typically, we’re pretty hesitant to jump on any sort of timepiece documentary based around something going on while it’s going on [sort of just comes across as like a weird news story sometimes — I don’t know] But we feel like this one is definitely worth checking out. Only Part I is available for viewing right now, but it offers lots of footage from last year’s GonerFest, lots of Jay, some Jamin crowdsurfing, some Ty in a Heavy Cream tee, some us dancing to Ty, some Blackwell with a drum on his head, and lots of other stuff… If anything, it’s the most enjoyable 26 minutes you’ll waste all day.
HOW WAS THE WEST FUN?
It wasn’t that long ago that we were talking about Dead Ghosts. Probably like less than a month ago actually. But our buddies down at Florida’s Dying just released their first real full length vinyl record [We emphasize “real” because Dead Ghosts have had a cassette pressed to 12″ vinyl and done a handful of singles for other labels — but this is their first full length effort] We’ve been blasting the S/T debut for the last little while and feel comfortable saying you probably need to jump on this. The artwork has that sort of Thanksgiving vibe to it too — so maybe put it in your cornucopia at the table on Thursday.
