CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT

It’s been a good week. Like, a really good week. We got our glow-in-the-dark Mellow Out 7″ in the mail, we got our Heavy Cream on, we got to hear some of the new Natural Child 7″ [more on that later] And now we’re finally getting something we’ve been waiting months for: a split 7″ courtesy of Infinity Cat featuring JEFF and Ty Segall. Talk about a dream split. JEFF’s wax track is a new jam they’ve been playing live for the last little bit called “Diamond Way”. I seriously don’t think it’s possible for us to be any bigger fans of that song. The Ty side definitely doesn’t let up either. It’s a track from the Melted sessions that isn’t on the album [not really sure why though, we think it would’ve been pretty sick to have that grungy number on there] Anyways, there are only 5 hundo of these baybees so be sure to go order one right now.

Do it here.

AND SUMMER WILL LIVE

There it is. In ALL of it’s glory [believe you me — there is lots of glory in this one] Heavy Cream are heading out on tour again soon with the Bogus Bros up the East Coast and back — and if you catch them, you might be able to snag a copy of their new record, Danny, which officially comes out on Infinity Cat Records on August 24th. We already need a second copy because the needle has about run the grooves straight through.

God, that is one beautiful album cover [photo by Bekah Cope] Read on to get a full list of the baybees’ tour dates and tracklist of the album [We’ll hit you sweethearts with a full-frontal review once it gets a little closer to the release date, sound good? Good.]

IN THE RED ON THE REG

Heads up, my mamis n papis! Everyone’s favorite non-local label, In the Red Records, has unloaded a taste of some upcoming releases on our candy asses. Head to their MySpace to check out the freshest tracks The Intelligence, Davila 666, The Parting Gifts, The Dirtbombs, and Demon’s Claws. There’s also a new track on there from our fave-babes, Cheap Time. We’re not totally sure when we’ll see a new release from them, but hopefully it’ll be sooner than later. We know front-man Jeffrey Novak has been busy around town with The Looking Glass and their drummer, Ryan Sweeney, is playing a show this Friday debuting his new band — Bobby Hazzard & The Hates. Hit it. And now here’s a little Oh Sees video for ya.

KEEP 'EM COMING

Those Black Lips babes keep reeling us in with this little single releases here and there. They’ve got us thinking that their next album must be some sort of car concept album [Who’s side are they on!? Scion? Kia? We always thought they were Subaru boys] This next single is a part of the free Scion/VICE series [the last few they’ve done have been pretty sick, especially that Spits/Dan Melchior split] We think this one might take the cake though — Black Lips and Pierced Arrows on the same 7″? Dream come true. The two played together at Knitting Factory a while ago and we heard it was a hit. Be sure to look/ask for it when you’re at Grimey’s — because it’s free!

TOUR-TIME IN THE TWENTY-TEN

PUJOL – Sexmas In July Tour from NASHVILLE’S DEAD on Vimeo. Edited by Alexa Sullivant

What’s better than a summer tour? Nothing [smelly vans, smelly boys, rock and rolls…. nothing better] The PUJOL bebes are about to head out again in a couple weeks and we put together this little tour-promo video for them. Just to preface it a little, get ready to get a little wierded out. We invited the boys to come hangout at a new hot-spot around town [we can’t tell you exactly where] but it’s a place where we’ve found the strangest things happening. We’re not even really sure who runs the place. We always see Ben Steine hanging outside the front and a swanky dude running the insides. This time we caught a couple natural childs hanging loose and a jazzy dancer. Ok, enough, check out that video. And click down there for a list of tour dates.
