THE BUDDY HOLLY OF HIP-HOP

I know we are just like perma-gush around here —– “This band’s our favorite….” – “These babes rock and roll all night like no one else” – “JEFFs the best band ever” — but it’s really no exaggeration when we say that Juiceboxxx is without a doubt the best live performer we’ve seen in the last couple years [Bruce Springsteen is right up there too] He just put out a new video for his 100 M.P.H. [AC Slater remix] and it rules. It features Juiceboy himself hanging loose by the pool and showing some baybees how to escape the darkness, and how to eat some real burgers. I DON’T WANT TO GO INTO THE DARKNESS

Juiceboxxx just wrapped up a pretty sweet tour with Public Enemy [Yes, the real Public Enemy] You can check out a tour video from that here. Word on the street is that he’s going to be spending a little time in Nashville this August. If we were you, we’d get our dancing shoes on. We’ve got our dancing shoes on.

STICKY SATURDAY NIGHT

First — that’s a gnarly flyer if we’ve ever seen one. Second — that’s a pretty gnarly bill if we’ve ever seen one. The Alababes, Thomas Function, are heading out on a tour with might-as-well-be-Nashvillians- Bass Drum of Death and they’re hitting The End this Saturday. It’s gonna be a real sweat-bath. Which is all you could ever ask for in the summer, right? Rounding out the bill are Cy Barkley and Jeffrey Novak. Word on the street is that Cy Barkley’s new 7″ is just about ready to go. We heard a copy of it the other day and it’s pretty sick. The other word on the street is that there’s a live Cheap Time LP coming sometime soon? That one’s a little more outta no where and we’re not totally sure if it’s true —- but we’re hoping. Maybe Jeffrey can confirm it sometime.

WORK IT OUT, BEBE

If you weren’t already aware, Nashville’s premiere soul-erotic-funk-rock [we have no idea how to pinpoint this shit, sorry] Tim Chad & Sherry have a brand new full length coming out this week. You can catch them for free at Grimey’s this weekend on Saturday and scoop up a copy of Baby We Can Work It Out. Not many better ways to spend a Saturday afternoon, ya know? Groovin’ with the bebes at the hop. For those looking to pick up a copy interntually, you can snag one from Cleft Music. Late night summer grooves forever. THE SUMMER DON’T END THIS YEAR

Gonna miss you, bud. We can’t disclose the location of tonight’s show, but ask around and I’m sure you can figure it out. After checking up with the house — we can post the address. GET WILD

The other day we hit you bebes with a little sneak peak of something we’ve been laboring on for the last bit. We think it might be some of our best work yet, and definitely think it’s some of the best JEFF footage we’ve ever seen. I know we say it all the time and you ladies are probably real tired of it, but there are just no bands like JEFF out there. Watching them play live or even just watching videos of them play live totally gives us goosebumps [not “scared” goosebumps, more like “this is changing my life” goosebumps] Anyways, we followed the bad boys up to New York a while back for a show and filmed all the Snack Attacks along the way. For those who’ve been in the game a while, you’re aware that snack attacks have been going on for a long time now — and we never get tired of them [can’t reccomend watching that linked video highly enough] Check it out..

CRONIN WARRIORS

Mikal Cronin is one productive dude. It was like everytime we’d blink, we’d miss something with this guy — that’s why we’ve learned to just not blink anymore. Moonhearts [they dropped Charlie] just released their new record earlier this week and it’s killer summer jams to the max. Would you expect anything less though? It’s only available digitally right now, but the LP will be coming out soon enough on Tic Tac Totally. Aside from that, there are about one million other releases that Mikal’s got out right now — our advice: get all you can. Check out a couple tracks below:

Moonhearts – Shine [mp3]
Moonhearts – I Can Go On [mp3]
