GOOD THING WE DOWNLOADED THIS BEFORE OUR INTERNETS DIED

Alotta the babies ’round town been asking us what exactly that photo we used yesterday was from. And we were like “You still haven’t seen that MIA video yet!?” And they were all like “Nope” and so now we are like “OK, ok, we’ll put it up so now you GOTTA see it.” We’re not usually ones to jump on MIA’s steez, but she sampled a Suicide song in this one and it’s directed by the same guy [Romain Gavras] who did Justice’s “Stress” video [check that out too if you haven’t] Anyways, it’s very much gruesome and disturbing and we don’t want the keedz to get traumatized — beware. Our day will come

We’re feeling a little washed out today. Understandably so. I mean, as I type this I am at a library in Brentwood because our nets are still down at The Deadquarters. I will say that we’re hopeful and that we’ve got some good things coming up [a couple benefit shows, some new viral vidz, blah blah blah] It’s a weird day. From everyone here at Nashville’s Dead, we’re hoping that you’re safe and OK and that you managed to get all your records out safe and sound. If you didn’t and you need some help… hit us up in the contact page and we’ll see if there’s anything  we can do. Hopefully we’ll get around to making some more posts today.

We love you, Nashville.

SURPRISE ROAD DOGG TRIP

We’re heading out in t-minus 4 hours to drive up to New York with our favorite Bogus Bros — JEFF the Brotherhood [pictured above…. just keeding] They’re playing a show at NYU with might-aswell-be-a-Nashy-band Screaming Females, Little Lung, and Hop Along. It goes down Friday at noon for free, so if you’re in the area — come say hey. Oh you didn’t know?

We’ll resume posting regularly once we get back and we’ve got some sweet treats lined up for you [a new episode of GOIN’ VIRAL, maybe a new online release, you know… the goods]

WE'LL TAKE PARTY PLATTER, PLEASE

This record’s been in the making for the last 2 years from the bad boys down at Florida’s Dying. Totally gonna be worth the wait, too. We all love songs that teach us new dances [The TwistHippy Hippy ShakeThe DragThe U Turn] and the dudes in Flahdah are hooking us up bigtime with 13 tracks from 13 different kickass bands teaching new dances. Dances like: The Cuddle Up, Huckle Buck, and Wiggle It Around. There’s a list of the contributing artists down there. I’m pretty sure we’ve talked about all of them at least once here before [Definitely more than that in some cases…. Personal & the Pizzas and Sexcapades]

Johnny and the Limelites
NoBunny
Hunx and His Punx
Coconut Coolouts
Rantouls
Sweet Sixteens
Sexcapades
Garbos Daughter
Slippery Slopes
Brians Dirty Business
Personal and The Pizzas
The Puddin’ Pops
The Yolks

Gonna be a good summer. Get your order in now because only 600 of these are out there and it’s definitely going to sell out fast. Hey, FD, next time get a hold of those Funstix babes, they’ve got a pretty good one under their belt too.

BIRTHDAY BASHIN'

This Saturday, May 1, would’ve been bad boy’s 30th birthday. Not many days go by where we don’t think about Jay. We’ve probably listened to Blood Visions at least once a week since it came out [still rips too] and it’s only fitting that there be some sort of gathering to remember him by this Saturday. There’s going to be a free party in Memphis this Saturday with 10 bands and if you’ve got the space in your car, we’ll gladly hop in. It kicks off around 4 in the afternoon at the Poplar Lounge. Get at it.

PINING FOR HALLOWEEN

HAUNTED GEORGE

It’s been hot and rainy and cold and rainy and weird and it’s just making us reminisce about last Fall and Halloween and everything and it got us in the mood to listen to something spooky [pretty long sentence, sorry Ms. Little] So we’ve had Haunted George blasting all day to get our scary on. George, who lives in the Mojave desert with the witches and the devils, has had a whole slew of releases over the last while with the likes of In The Red, Norton, and Crypt. Most recently releasing the LP American Crow with In the Red [The opening photo on the ITR site is the insert for the album, sick] If they name didn’t give it away, the music is ghosty and rocking and spooky like if the Boogedy Monster and Elvis had a kid. Check it out…

Haunted George – Moody River [mp3]

Pick up the new record here. Really think this guy may be a direct descendant of el diablo. George obsesionado robó mi alma.

GET SWAMPED | JUNE 20

Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man. We started this thing about a year ago and the first thing we set out to do was get Jacuzzi Boys to come to Nashville. And now, here they come. And it’s just going to be the most badass show ever. Turbo Fruits! PUJOL! Funstix! All for only $5! What’s the catch? No catch. This is also gonna be our good buddy Miles’s going away party. He’s been one of our main badboys over at Third Man for the last long while and we’re gonna miss him a ton. Bring your friends to Glenn Danzig’s and bring Miles some Nashville/American memorabilia to take back to the land of cricked-teeth. It’s going down on June 20th [someone forgot to put that on the flyer…. woops] See you there!
