FIND A PUNK WITH RECKLESS EYES

Errbody’s favorite former-Atlantian Brooklyn bad boys, Ex Humans, are releasing their debut LP in the very near future. They’ve had two 7″s come out in the last little while and both of them are pretty killer, so we’re stoked to know that we’ll be able to get our grubbys on a full length soon. It’ll be coming out on Rob’s House Records [who have a couple other new releases slated including a new Cola Freaks EP that looks to be badass] We spent a good bit of time in New York hanging out with Jesse from Ex Humans and it sounds like they’ve got a lot on their plates for the next good while. Literally. Jesse and Josh recently started a restaurant in Williamsburg called Honeychiles’ and it might be the best southern food we’ve ever had. Sorry ma. Anyways, check out the video for their new song “Reckless Eyes”

LET'S ROAD TRIP IT

One of these days I swear we’re gonna convince our VICE buddies to throw something sick like this in Nashville. And even if you think the whole VICE/Scion thing is a sell out-marketing ploy-brainwash trickery, you gotta admit… that lineup is so gnarly. And FREE.  There’s even some Nashville love represented this year [there was last year too with Cheap Time and Those Darlins] Natural Child are gonna be playing it this year and blowing everyone away. The only unfortunate thing for Nashville, is that the fest falls right in the middle of this year’s Next Big Nashville [which we’ve been working up some treats for you bebes — gonna party hard] Anyways, we’re just saying that — you know — we’re down to throw in on some gas and make our way out there as long as we can catch Gaye Blades and get Ty to do a Traditional Fools tune. SEE YOU THERE! And for kicks, here’s an Almighty Defenders interview from last year’s fest….

The Oblivians – Memphis Creep [mp3]
The Gories – Thunderbird ESQ [mp3]
Natural Child – Dogbite [mp3]
Digital Leather – Photo Lie [mp3]

Speaking of Cheap Time and VICE/Scion — there’s a new free split 7″ available featuring a Cheap Time track and a Bad Sports track. It’s free.

MAGICAL IN-STOREY TOUR

We can get down with a band that wears apple bottom jeans. We’ve already talked about Magic Kids’ new record Memphis [coming out Aug. 24 via True Panther Sounds/Matador] But they just announced a new in-store tour and there’s a couple Tennessee dates thrown in there. One being August 30 at Grimey’s and the other being 5 days earlier at the Disc Exchange in Knoxville [the 25th learn your math!] We’re gonna see if we can’t just get the bubblegum poppers to stick around all night and maybe party with us Nashville style [You know, show them that they named their record after the wrong city. Just joking with you Memphis! Is it hot in here?] Or maybe we’ll just get them to play our baby brobro’s birthday party…

Magic Kids – Superball [mp3]

Monday August 30
:: Magic Kids
@ Grimey’s New & Pre-Loved Records
$FREE – All Ages – 6PM

FIRST LICKS

The dream cream gals [and one bland boy] have been working mondo hard on touring and trying to get the nation ready for the release of their debut LP Danny [out Aug.24 on Infinity Cat] but we really think that the world’s not ready for this. I mean, that’s why people get blown away, right? Because they’re not ready… [We’re so tired we can’t even write well. Not that we usually do, but you get what we’re shooting at] Anyways, the bad girls club [and one bland boy] have decided to give everyone a little taste of what to expect on the record. Check it out below — and don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Heavy Cream – Watusi [mp3]

Heavy Cream is going on tour real soon, but we’re working on a sick release show for August 24th so keep your calendars open. The album is also now available for pre-order at the Infinity Cat website [and the first 100 get a special tour DVD autographed by all three bebes (and a bland boy) so get on it] Check out their tour dates below…

JUST A REMINDER

Remember when we told y’all about Robert Ellis Orrall’s exhibition opening at Estel Gallery? Well, it’s tonight at 7:00pm sharp. We won’t blame you if you can’t make it [though we will judge you]; so if you’re too “busy” tonight doing “stuff,” then you can come by anytime [during visiting hours] from the 7th to the 28th. But for realsies though: drop by the reception tonight, let’s pack the place!

Word on the street says Mr. Bob will be providing free tater tots too.

So the other day we gave you guys a whole big rundown of all the sick shit going on this weekend with Yes Fest, but we didn’t really get to talk much about what we’re most stoked for: WARCRY. If you’re not familiar with Tragedy — familiarize yourself. Anyways, they’re playing two shows this Saturday [an early one at Greg’s House — remember that sick outdoor showspace that used to put on every once in a while? Annihilation Time played there. It was sooo sick… And then again later that night at Little Hamilton] Check em out…
