TALKIN’ ABOUT A PARTY

There really isn’t much else to say in this post other than we gotta find a way to sneak out of Nashville for a minute in November to hit up the Norton Records 25th Anniversary All Star Spectacular. Check out the lineup that’s posted after the click down there and you’ll probably agree. Actually, before…

POP. ON THE GRID

You know, cyberpunk is a term that doesn’t get thrown around a whole whole lot, but when it does it’s usually not applicable. Pop. 1280 are probably the closest thing New York’s got to a cyberpunk band right now. They had a 12″ EP come out a little bit ago on Sacred Bones titled The…

RIP UP THE END [IN PICS]

RIP UP THE END [IN PICS]

The best punk band going graced The End a couple weeks ago and if you were there then you know just how crazy it was. Once The Spits started playing, it was like hell broke loose in a sea of fog. We don’t think we could see three feet in front of us, except for the giant skull and the flaming crash. Either way, one of the best shows to go down so far this Summer.

SIC OF THE DOG

One of our favorite records to come out this year is Sic Alps’ Napa Asylum [which you can still snag from Drag City] They’ve had some lineup changes going on for the last little while, but that’s not derailing them from hitting the road and putting out new digs. LANDING IN THE SLAMMER

You know it’s a rough week when a Magic Kid gets arrested. Bennet Foster, pictured above — the floppy one in the middle of the bottom row, was picked up when he and the others pictured [and a lot more on top of that] gathered to protest the decision to cut teachers’ wages in the…

FEELIN’ STRANGE [IN PICS]

FEELIN’ STRANGE
Photos by Bekah Cope

Last week our Austin brothers, The Strange Boys, rolled through town to blow up The End. That show was one of our favorites we’ve seen in the last while. Denney killed it. The Paperhead killed it. D. Watusi killed it. Strange Boys were ok. Just kidding, the Austin bad boys lit up the stage and mentioned in their set that they’d be back in town in just a few weeks…

SEBASTIAN SPEAKS AGAIN

So, today being the official first day of Summer and all, we figured we’d announce a show that’s sure to be one of the best going on this season. Our favorites over at Sebastian Speaks [aka William Tyler] have setup their Second Annual Sebastian Speaks Fifth Anniversary Party. If you remember correctly, Sebastian Speaks had…
