Well, it was a good thing we had that nice recovery week last week because this week’s gonna be a bit more wild. I mean, that Vandy show was pretty wild [ceiling tiles getting kicked out, jungle stage, toilet paper everywhere, batman and captain planet, Natural Child played “Victoria”, Danny Pujol played “Too Safe” twice] but this week packs a more consistent punch with good shows all week long. CHECK THAT ISH BEBE

ALL RIGHT, HIT THE SHOW THEN WE'LL VANDY VAN TO QDOBA

Looks like Pujol and Natural Child are starting to try and make their ways into the college concert circuit [that’s where the REAL money is, ya know?] The two are going to be playing an impromptu show this Saturday night at Vanderbilt’s McGill Hall. It’s likely that there will be lots of drunk teeny-boppers running around with their shirts off and black lights and glow shitz and free Oreos and soda [we know these things because we went to a party there last weekend] The opening band, Colossi [formerly known as fka Shrines] is definitely something you won’t want to miss. It’s the kind of thing you’ll tell your grandkids about when they’re living at McGill and you’re a well-established economical tycoon fiend person. So let’s go party at Vandy and see what the future holds for us [Class of 2014 represent!] it will probably be way more fun than Rites of Spring. Just sayin’

GRIMEY'S GETTIN' FUCKED UP

That’s the cover for the Fucked Up Record Store Day 7″. There’s actually like, 11 different covers. But this one is called “Grimey’s” and is a picture from last year’s Record Store Day… AT GRIMEY’S. How nutso is that?!  The 7″ will feature the two tracks that they recorded at Daytrotter from Couple Tracks. We gotta say we never thought we’d see the day when Grimey’s and Fucked Up would be teaming up, but it doesn’t surprise us that it’s for something like Record Store Day. For more info on it, just read allllllll of this.

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY

We can stop freaking out about this alone in our rooms and finally share it with you ladies that THE SPITS ARE COMING TO TOWN! Mark your calendars for May 21 [We suggest writing things like “Best night of your life” or “Tonight, I’m gonna lose my brain”] If you’re not familiar with The Spits, you’re really depriving yourself of some of the best punk rocks of the last decade [Please go out and purchase their albums, they’re all badass] Their jams are so primal and raw and man this show is gonna rule so much!! Maybe Sean will tell the story about living under a billboard sign… if you’re lucky. The rest of the bill includes Symptoms, Heavy Cream, and Cy Barkley. See you there!

$TBA – 21+ – 9PM

The Spits’ IV [School’s Out] just came out this last 4th of July. Pick it up along with their other records. We don’t know if there are still any available, but a couple weeks ago you could go down to Grimey’s and scoop a FREE split 7″ with The Spits and Dan Melchoir on it. Wouldn’t hurt to ask.

DREAM TRILOGY 2010 [IN PICS]

“Dream Trilogy Tour 2010” as Magic Kids kept calling the show, was pretty boss. Well, they packed out Exit/In atleast. We were surrounded by tons of unfamiliar faces. Was everyone at the show from another town or something? How come you dopes don’t come out to the shows on the reg? OK, enough short rant, back to the show. Magic Kids and Girls were pretty right-on. Magic Kids could probably make you vomit with the amount of sweet, sugary [not Sugar Ray] bubblegum-pop that they shove down your throat, but it’d all come up as cotton candy so it’s ok. Girls cranked out a bunch of swooning crooner jams, but we got kinda lost in all the long hair to pay attention to anything else. Bekah Cope was snappin’ pics for you ladies, here you go…

ANYBODY BLITZIN'?

HOME BLITZ

More Jersey rock and roll. This must be the Jersey revival or something, there are just too many good bands spilling outta there right now. Including these dudes. If you’ve been paying any attention to the haps in the last year, you’ve probably stumbled across them before. They’ve put out a bunch of releases with lots of different people [Out of Phase on Richie Records, Weird Wings 12″ on Parts Unknown, World’s Lousy with Ideas Vol. 7, and a bunch of 7″s that are real hard to find now. EBAY!] But these dudes shell out pop gems like no one’s business. I mean, their covered in a nice layer of garage-y, uptempo, tambo stylees, but they’re there. They’ve also got a couple good harsh noise tracks for all you harsh noisers! The drummer in that photo looks an awful lot like Sarim from Liquor Store/LiveFastDie/a bunch of other bands, which brings us to mention that Home Blitz are actually looking for a new drummer right now. Get at it! A little baby itty bitty birdy passing with the wind told us they might be hitting the Nash on March 24th. We’ll keep you posted.

NEW JEFFAGE

Ladies, it’s been what? Like 6 days since we mentioned anything JEFF related? That doesn’t exactly meet our quota, does it? Let’s fix that. The bogus bros, who just teamed up with Screaming Females, will be back next week for a show at The End. If you weren’t there for their Jan. 22nd show, we think it is imperative that you be there this time around. It’s sure to be a rock and roll time. Especially since you’ll probably get to see this new jam that the boys worked up [it’s called “Mellow Out”]

That was at their Feb. 6th show at Bowery Ballroom in NYC. We are so stoked that people everywhere are in love with JEFF [I mean, the love we have for JEFF is different from their love, but it’s love nonetheless] In other JEFFy news, the 2nd pressing of Heavy Days is just about sold out which means a 3rd is on the way….. WITH ANOTHER DIFFERENT BACK COVER! We’re already up to 4 copies of Heavy Days right now [the opaque yellow, the black, the mixed, the first different back cover] but we’ll scoop as many as they put out.
