WHO'S READY FOR SOME PAIN?

We didn’t even know this was coming up until the other day when we were checking up on the old Twin Stumps myspace and saw that the dudes were gonna be rolling through town on May 27th. Not only that, but they’re hitting the town with Pittsburgh’s Kim Phuc! For serious, these two bands together could crush your skull with the amount of loud, tense, fear-inducing riffs. Twin Stumps are from Ridgewood, NY and have had a couple releases in the last year or so [their S/T LP on Dais Records is sold out and so is their Live Cassette…. guess you’ll have to wait for the new album which comes out June 20th on Fan Death] The babies are heading out all over the place so go and see them. Kim Phuc just put out a new single, Wierd Skies, and it’s a killer. Here’s a couple tracks and the full bill for their show here:

FLOOD OF FUNDS PT. 1 [IN PICS]

Oh baby baby… 25 hundo. You guys blowing us away everyday. We helped setup a couple fundraiser shows last week with the proceeds going towards flood relief [you can actually still donate over at Rocketown if you’d like] and they were incredible and we did good and you should all be proud to say you were there and helped out. Seriously. Our photographers were able to catch all the feel-goodery at The Kitty and at the new Rocketown —- chhhhhheck out Emily Quirk’s shots.

ONE OF THE BEST RECORDS WE'VE HEARD ALL YEAR

And it’s not even out yet…

Melted comes out May 25th from Goner records. You do NOT want to be without this record this summer. For serious. Just listen to theeese:

Ty Segall – Girlfriend [mp3]
Ty Segall – Caesar [mp3]

Baby babe’s got no big plan for tours right now other than all this Chaos in Tejas biz, but we’re pretty certain he’ll unload a whole bunch of dates soon enough. Will Nashville make the cut??? We’re trying. Be on the look for that JEFF/Ty split pretty soon. We’ve heard it and it kills.

PUJOL – Interview from NASHVILLE’S DEAD on Vimeo.

PUJOL and the boys are about to head out for another tour [that’s like, what, their 4th this year maybe?] and we thought it’d be a good idea to maybe follow the dudes around for a day and talk to them about touring and Nashville and recording and blah blah blah. It was a good idea. Spending time with PUJOL is like spending a time with your 4 favorite uncles [they’ll beat you in basketball, get you drunk, teach you about rock and roll, and show you how to get girlfriends] Anyways, this is kind of a double-header GOIN’ VIRAL because it’s with the newest video for PUJOL’s “Mission From God”. The vid, directed by mind-master Cj Giordano and shot by Josh Heflin, is a Tank Pets production and features lots of chit chattin on the Internets with a JEFF babe, some Heavy Creamers, a couple Money men, and lots of dry humping [Looks like it was probably pretty hard to keep it dry though, that podium is looking hott] Check ittttt

The boys will be back at the end of next week for those couple shows with Those Darlins and Natural Child [you know THOSE SHOWS] Pujol’s tour dates after the clicky…

DARLINS DOWN UNDER [DAHLINS DYOWN UNDAH]

For the last couple months we’ve been tag-teaming it up with our fave babes, Those Darlins, to setup a couple of sick parties in Nashville and Memphis before they head out to Australia and now we’ve got all the sweet deets for you. CHECK IT OUT! Come on, guys. Just check it out…

Before Those Darlins head out for the land of aborigines we gotta give them a proper farewell and make sure they know that Tennessee’s the best place they can ever be. That’s why the weekend of May 20 – 22 is going to go down as one of the sickest weekends Tennessee will see all year. The first of the shows will take place in Memphis at the Hi-Tone on May 20th and the second will be at Mercy Lounge on May 22nd [sorry no Knoxville or Chatty love this time bebes] Our blood brothers PUJOL and Natural Child will be playing both shows and So Jazzy will be tagging along for the Nashville show. We can guarantee right now that it’s gonna be wilder than anything you’ve seen in a bit. We forgot to mention this earlier, but a portion of all ticket sales from both shows will be going to aid flood victims. True Darlins.

COAST THE MOST

BEST COAST

It takes some nuts to just go out there and claim a coast as better than another coast [the shoreline over at Nashville Shores is where our hearts reside] But the LA boppers, Best Coast, grab that gall and run with it. Granted, the bebes aren’t breaking much new ground at all, but they are rehashing some sweet 60s fuzzpop with a bit of that 90s Cranbrerries vibe [sooo Vivian Girls plus Cranbrerries and you’ve got yourself a hit these days] You know you love that vibe. Don’t act like you don’t miss tying your sweatshirt around your waist and butt-cuttin’ your hair and Devon Sawa and JTT and blah blah blah. They’ve had a ton of 7″s released over the last while [PPM, Art Fag, Group Tightener, Black Iris] and have a couple coming up [maybe even one with a couple Nashy homeboys…] Check out this vid…

Best Coast – When I’m With You [mp3]

The babes are in Europe for a bit before doing anything more stateside. When they do, you’ll know about it and we’ll probably be talking about them again soon.
