HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEBE COPE

We don’t usually try and make the biggest deal out of birthdays, but today is our photograpaher – Bekah Cope’s – birthday. If you’ve been paying attention then you’ve noticed around here that just about all the pictures are her’s. She’s our favorite. And her pictures are boss. I mean, Bekah makes anyone playing shows around here look good [so if you’re in one of those bands, tell her thanks] And if you’ve got lots of money and cool stuff [and even if you don’t] go spend it on Bekah and tell her happy birthday and how much you appreciate her photos and everything. That’s what we’ll be doing today. Here are a couple of our favorite shots she’s had in the last while….

HIGH FLYIN' DANNY

THE TRIPLETS

JUAN WAUTERS - THE BEETS

THE LOOKING GLASS

THE DREAM TEAM - HEAVY CREAM

THE BOGUS BROS - JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD

Happy Birthday, Bekah

SMELLS LIKE VINYL SPIRIT

If we can suggest anywhere to be today — we’d say “A record store.” Go out and support the shops around town because they employ the nicest people here and records are fun and no matter what record store you go to today, it’ll be a blast. We’re planning on hitting The Groove for a little bit then heading over to Grimey’s for a little while while we DJ [Where you’ll be able to hear such great tracks as Genuwine’s “Pony” and LOTS of new stuff from different Nashy bands — like new JEFF, new Natural Child, new Heavy Cream, Looking Glass] Maybe we’ll even make our way over to Third Man to watch someone shell out a million bucks for Jack White’s go-kart [We’d rather just have Mario’s] Anyways, Nashville, get out there today.

THOSE DARNIEL PUJOLS [IN PICS & VIDS]

So the other day we went down to Murfreesboro to catch two of our favorite round-towners [PUJOL and Those Darlins] and to soak up some rays. It was a blast [I mean, it was a free Darlins/PUJOL show and we hadn’t seen the Darlins babes in a while and it was free and uhhhh free] We snagged some photos for everyone who couldn’t make it out. They’re double-exposed so think of it as like an awts and fawts and cryafts kind of thing. Thanks for the photos, Bekah Cope. Oh and some vid treats too.

WHAT KINDA MOVIES YOU GUYS LIKE?

So we’re not gonna have much time this weekend to do anything but buy records, play records, see shows, and eat BBQ [Dreams do come true] but, for those bebeez that wanna hang out in the AC, you should go and hit up some films for the Nashville Film Festival. That trailer up there is from the movie STAGES – which is one of the films being shown that we’re most stoked about. It’s about these Puerto Rican mamis getting old and hanging loose with the inner-city youth and then putting together an original play to tell their stories. Not sold? Well, it comes straight from the same people that brought you this video and this video. They have a name and it is Meerkat Media. Do it.

SICK SUMMER PARTY

Look at that! YES! We told you last week that we were working on getting John Barrett’s Bass Drum of Death up here for a show, but little did we know that it’d be such a gnarly show. He’ll be playing alongside Cream Team 2010, Cy Braggly, and Useless Eaters. We’ve talked multiple times about Seth’s band – Usless Eaters. They’ve recently transplanted themselves to Toronto so we’re extra stoked to have our former neighbors down for a party. If you haven’t picked up their new 7″ [Sucked In, Goner] you should. We’ll DJ it tomorrow at Grimey’s [more an that later] Anyways, get stoked!! Haha the flyer says 2009.
