Steve Gunn released one of our favorite records of 2013 with his amazing “Time Off.” Safe to say that this record and William Tyler‘s “Impossible Truth” provided a personal push to delve further into American folk music of the early 20th century generally and American Primitivism of the mid 1960s specifically. Gunn is back with a second LP, titled “Way Out Weather,” and from the sounds of it, is picking up where he left off with a full band, snapshot-by-snapshot exploration as appropriate on the Blue Ridge as the PCH. The first single, “Milly’s Garden,” is a trip worth taking. “Way Out Weather” is due out on October 7 from Paradise of Bachelors.
