VICEROY DEMARCO

MAC DEMARCO

In mid-October Captured Tracks released Mac DeMarco’s debut full length, 2. We had heard his Rock & Roll Night Club EP that also came from Captured Tracks just a few months earlier and were pretty intrigued but thought he might be taking things too hokey [if you’ve seen any of the videos from tracks off that EP, then you probably know what we mean] Even still – hokey videos or not – Mac’s got some pretty catchy pop jams that have a certain… how do you say… joie de vivre about them. DeMarco and co have been playing for a good bit and did some heavy hitting at this year’s CMJ – garnering a good number of comparisons of Mac to Mr. Jonathan Richman – which we can kind of see. Another one of his stylistically shitty-on-purpose videos came out today for the 2 track “Ode to Viceroy” and you can check it out right down there. There’s lots of smoking in it. You can order the new album direct from Captured Tracks right here – it’s well worth your money. We went ahead and posted another video of the guys doing a live take on “She’s Really All I Need” after the click – check it!
