WANNA DO RIGHT

THE FRESH & ONLYS

The Fresh & Onlys latest album – Long Slow Dance – came out earlier this year from Mexican Summer and it’s spent a good bit of time on our table lately. After a year where we got solo efforts from both Tim Cohen [Tim Cohen’s Magic Trick from Captured Tracks] and Wymond Miles [Under the Pale Moon from Sacred Bones] it’s interesting to hear them go back to the Fresh & Onlys camp and see how things have matured and progressed for their sound. Bringing in horns on tracks like “Executioner’s Song” and the overall vibe of the record has them leaning more toward indie than the sort of ’60s pop you’d expect. On the whole it’s a pretty solid listen. The guys are about to be on the road right and they’ll be hitting Exit/In next week on November 3rd alongside Quilt and local buddies No Regrets Coyote – you can click below for all the tour dates. The guys over at Pitchfork shot a nice video of Fresh & Onlys in the studio as they recorded Long Slow Dance and you can watch that below. Pick up the new record here.
