We’re not talking about the art supply store – we’re talking about LA’s latest weird pop maker. Sam Flax just released their debut cassette, Age Waves, on Burger Records [with an LP release "in the works"] and it has us grooving pretty hard. Sort of along the same lines of Ariel Pink – Sam Flax is creating some pretty heavy 80s driven glam/disco/pop jams. We know that’s not typically our bag – but sometimes we get down. Check out the track “Fire Doesn’t Burn Itself” below and you’ll get what we’re talking about. The cassette was released in an edition of 250 – so get on it before they’re all gone. And once the LP release rolls around, we’ll be sure to let you know.
