MUZZ’D [IN PICS]

IMG0032

As we’ve mentioned a time or two, we were graced with a rare performance by LA-based bedroom guru Muzz last week. The show was a rocker. One of those real “scared the floor might cave in/fuck it, it’s a party” type deals. Fox Fun killed it, showing off some of the material that’ll be on the LP they’re working on. Gnarwhal reminded us of why we love house shows in the first place. Muzz, as promised, was really something special. Harmonized guitar, falsetto vocals…what more could you ask for? The show was recorded live to tape, so we’ll see what comes of that. Luckily for us, the queen Julia Bee and the young Amelia Anderson were also there to catch the party on film. Make the jump below to see exactly what went down.

FUZZ’S FIRST VID

We’re five months into 2013, and the only new material we’ve received from Ty Segall is a split single. For any other artist, this might be par for the course, but if you follow Ty closely at all, you should know this is far below average. Then again if you follow Ty closely at all, you should also know he’s been supplementing his output with his new band, Fuzz, which includes a couple Moonhearts as well. After a ripper of a debut 7-inch on Trouble in Mind earlier this year, they released their second single last month on In the Red, and just announced plans to release their first LP in the coming months. No word on a label or release date for that yet, but in the meantime, take a gander at the video just released for “Fuzz’s Fourth Dream” from the first single. Shot live styles at Burgerama last month, the vid gives us a taste of Fuzz in the flesh and blood. Word on the street is we might be able to experience it ourselves before the end of the year, but we haven’t seen any dates announced yet. Stay tuned on that…

TUMBLING DOWN

url

We’ve been pretty clear on how we feel about Jessica Pratt. Smart songs with an amazing voice and interesting guitar playing to match? That’s what separates the babes from the bettys. She recently announced she would be opening for a tour with Father John Misty. After a long winter with countless spins of her self-titled debut, we were so excited to see that it would include a stop in Nashville. The tour features quite a few dates through the south, so jump to the dates below to see if you may be as lucky…

RAW PUNKS ON THE ROAD

Middle Tennessee’s stoopidest punk band are gonna be doing couple of short dates above and below the Mason-Dixon line mid May, and everywhere west of the Mississippi in June and July. If you’re lucky, they’ll be playing your town. Everybody who’s anybody thats been paying attention to the internets lately knows Pissbath put out one of the top punk demo tapes so far this year, clocking in at 7 songs in 8 minutes, and you’d be a dingus to miss out. They still need a little help with the June and July dates, so if you wanna help a punker out email Conner at primitiveprison@gmail.com. The dates for May are the top image, and click below for June and July.

THE RUNDOWN – 4.29.2013 – 5.5.2013

KEEP EM COMING

8018196405_45d7727ca0
Earlier this week, our beloved Oh Sees dropped a second video from their latest  Floating Coffin. It depicts some moyduh and it features the track Toe Cutter – Thumb Buster. The video was directed by John Strong [NOT SO STRONG films] who also, together with Thee Oh Sees, put out one of our favorite videos of 2012. Not sure what these dudes are drinking, but we’ll take some.

THE RUNDOWN – 4.22.2013 – 4.28.2013

Rundown

Another week, another Rundown, but this is your typical Rundown. We’ve got a good one coming up, y’all. There’s a fun party at the Owl Farm tonight, a slice of Poetry Sucks! on Wednesday, the previously mentioned Muzz show on Friday, and double trouble high school music fests with Endada and Zeitgeist on Saturday. We even heard Do the Right Thing is playing at the Belcourt this weekend. What have we done to deserve such a choice week? Question not, young people. The Party works in mysterious ways. You just gotta take the good times when you can get ‘em, and this week, we’re getting them hard. See you at the shows…
