If there’s anyone in New York putting out gnarlier punk than Toxic State right now – we would really like to know about it. After putting out singles and LPs for Crazy Spirit, Dawn of Humans, Perdition, Nomad, and Hank Wood & The Hammerheads – these guys have pretty much gone and stolen our hearts. Speaking of Hank Wood – it seems as though they’ve just released their debut LP. It’s sort of hard to tell though since the label and the band have practically zero internet presence, but it looks like they had a release show last night to celebrate the arrival of the new record. The Hammerheads is basically a supergroup of members from all the bands we just mentioned: members from Crazy Spirit, Perdition, Goosebumps, blah blah blah. If this new record is anything like their debut 7″ or the contribution to the New York Rules tape – then it must be a total no-nonsense ripper. You can check out their track “White People” right down there and get a taste for what Hank Wood is all about. We might be overstepping when we say this – but shit sounds like it could fit in with about any KBD classic. They’re currently making their way down to Austin for Chaos in Tejas – so go catch them while you’re there.
