POP. ON THE GRID

POP. 1280

You know, cyberpunk is a term that doesn’t get thrown around a whole whole lot, but when it does it’s usually not applicable. Pop. 1280 are probably the closest thing New York’s got to a cyberpunk band right now. They had a 12″ EP come out a little bit ago on Sacred Bones titled The Grid and we’ve been jamming on it pretty good lately. They also just had a video come out for one of the tracks off of it “Step Into The Grid” — you can check it out below. The NY punkers are definitely drawing inspiration from Chrome Cranks and Honeymoon Killers, but it’s like they’re adding a modern twist to it. Remember when Pepsi did that thing — Pepsi Twist? Hopefully these guys will last longer than that did. Snatch up a copy of The Grid here.
