Weekend VII on you guys. We are very pleased with every group that is scheduled for the night shows this year, drawing from all over the map, both geographically and stylistically. More on that after the jump.
The week of the Freak kicks off with a pre-fest party at Queen Ave on Tuesday, March 8. Then, the real deal Weekend takes place from March 10-12 between Exit In and The End. Also, we are throwing an *official* after-party late Saturday night with the sweet blessings of the Third Man crew in their Blue Room.
This will be a party. People who donâ€
t like crowdsurfers near their heads, stay toward the back. Bros who use the pit as an excuse to be aggro, slow your roll in advance.
There will be no 3-day passes this year, so get tix in advance. Doors at 7. Music at 8. Each nightly show will be $15. And as always — if you wanna come and party and be a part of the shows but truly cannot afford ticket costs, holler at us personally and we will do our best to make sure youâ€
re taken care of.
Tickets are now available for the night shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

SLAMMERS
AT THE END
18+ – $15

Things are getting started off right Thursday at the End. From hardcore heartthrobs Slammers to RnR royalty Natural Child, that’s a pretty stacked bill of openers. And then there’s Quintron. We feel like maybe Quintron has played Nashville a few times, and maybe just maybe he doesn’t quite get the attention he deserves around these parts. Make no mistake…Quintron knows how to throw down. He’s practically a walking dance party. It doesn’t hurt that he’s kinda the modern day Eno in his spare time. Prepare yourselves, Nashville. Mr. Q will be waiting for you.
THE BLACK LIPS
WHITE FENCE
EX-CULT
D. WATUSI
CRIME WAVE
AT EXIT/IN
18+ – $20
Ticket link
We’ll keep the good times rolling on Friday with the Black Lips leading the way. The ATL boys never disappoint, so you can be sure that this is gonna be one you don’t want to miss. We could profess our love for White Fence for days. Aside from putting out some of the best records of the last few years, their show at the End last summer was without a doubt the best show in Nashville of 2013. We’re also a little more than stoked to see our buddies Crime Wave [formerly JARG] start off the show. Teenage punks in a powerpop world, they’re the best thing we’ve heard in a while.
JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD
DIARRHEA PLANET
CY BARKLEY & THE WAY OUTSIDERS
OGG
THE ORWELLS
AT EXIT/IN
18+ – $15
Ticket link
On Saturday, the shit will truly hit the fan. Cy Barkley & the Way Outsiders debuted their new lineup with a second guitar player back in January, and it really took things to the next level. Cy’s got a new record coming out this year as well, and it might be the best offering from our humble scene that we’ve heard in years. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen a Diarrhea Planet show, so that will be a welcome treat as well. JEFF the brotherhood headlines. Enough said, get faded.
————————————————————————-
It wouldn’t be Freakin’ Weekend without our annual POP-UP SHOP. Just like in previous years, we’ll be setting up at Local Honey [2009 Belmont Blvd], and just like in previous years, we’ll be pushin’ that product. We’re talking records/t-shirts/posters/tapes/just about anything else you could want from all your favorite local labels and bands, and as always, we’ll be selling them on the cheap. Last year we started doing day-time shows at the shop, and it was such a party that we just had to do it again. We’ll post a full inventory of items for sale in the coming week, but for now, let’s go ahead and check out those day shows.
FRIDAY MARCH 8 DAY SHOW
JEFFREY NOVAK
ASHER HORTON
WHIT SMITH
AT THE POP-UP SHOP
$FREE – ALL AGES – 3PM
The first day show is gonna be going down on Friday during the day starting around 3PM, but weâ€
ll be at the shop well before that just snacking and selling records and hanging out — which youâ€
re more than welcome to join us for. This show rides more the solo artist wave starting out with Whit Smith. Out-of-towners may know Whit as the singer for So Jazzy, though locals know him mostly for being one of the raddest dudes around. We were elated when he agreed to play at the shop this year, so don’t miss out. Next on the bill is Asher Horton. As a member of Fox Fun, OGG, and Crime Wave, Asher pretty much rules the high school scene, and his solo shows, though rare, are always special. Rounding out the bill is another rare solo performance from Jeffrey Novak. In fact, the last solo show we can remember seeing Jeffrey play was at Grimey’s way back in the summer of 2010. He’ll have members of D. Watusi and the Paperhead providing some support, so this should be quite the set.
SATURDAY MARCH 9 DAY SHOW
TURF WAR
NAMELESS CULTS
GNARWHAL
AT THE POP-UP SHOP
$FREE – ALL AGES – 3PM
The day shows continue on Saturday in a more full-bandy way starting off with Gnarwhal. Weâ€
ve been digging on Gnarwhal since Sean Thompson played in that band. Hell, I think my first mosh pit was at a Gnarwhal show. Theyâ€
re fresh off the road from their southern tour with Nameless Cults, so both bands should be tight as ever. Turf War from ATL will be rounding out the bill. Their catchy brand of rock and roll is one we have no trouble getting behind, so make sure to stop by for their set Saturday afternoon.
————————————————————————-
Lastly, also a first for this year is sponsors. We’ve never delved into this world before, but there have been a few businesses and companies whose support has played a huge role in making this the best Freakin’ Weekend yet. THANKS, SPONSORS.

Well, you knew it was coming sooner or later, right? We’ve been working on things for a bit and we’re about ready to unveil some lineup details and lots of other good things – but we figured we should go ahead and just drop the dates on you so you can make plans ahead of time. You know – book your flights and buses and save up your money for stupid cheap records and get ready to party non-stop in the crazy nasty stylee. FREAKIN’ WEEKEND IV is coming for you this March from Thursday the 7th to Saturday the 9th. It’ll be going down at a few different venues, there will be pop-up shop, there will be lots of sick bands, there will be mondo party, there will be lots of surprises. We figured it best to take Sunday off this year and the fucking Zombies are playing at War Memorial that night so we’ll be recovering over there. Maybe we can just include that in The Freakin’ Weekend. Yeah, sure, let’s go ahead and include it. There’s your first band announcement: the Zombies! AWOOO MUTHERFUCKER ITS THE YEAR OF THE CIRCLE PIT LETS GET FREAKY

NO REGRETS COYOTE
AT THE END
ALL AGES – $12

Everything’s kicking off on Wednesday night at The End for what’s sure to be a crazy time. We’ve already talked a good bit about Titus and Screamales and DP — but the addition of NO REGRETS COYOTE has us really stoked. They’ve only been playing shows for a little while around town – so don’t feel like you’re “out of the loop” if you’ve never caught them. This is as good a time as any to make sure you get your kicks though. Also – we’d like to point out again that this show at The End is ALL AGES. All you kiddies don’t even need to worry about finding fakes or anything. Wednesday also marks the first day of our Pop-Up Shop being open — but more on that in just a minute…
THE GREENHORNES
PUJOL
RANCH GHOST
DENNEY & THE JETS
DIRTY DREAMS
@ EXIT/IN
18+ – $10
Ticket LinkÂ
Thursday night we’re gonna keep the goodtimes rolling with our favorite Cincy-boys The Greenhornes and a slew of Nashy favorites. We talked about most of these guys in our initial lineup announcement – but we’re swimming in excitement to add our favorite DENNEY & THE JETS to the mix. They’ve been working on their full length album as well as a brand new EP that should see light sometime soon [we hope] Â This is also one of the few times you’ll be able to catch PUJOL in the Nashy-area before they head out on tour for the Spring season and before their debut LP comes out. You’re not going to wanna miss this one – TRUST US
JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD
CY BARKLEY & THE WAY OUTSIDERS
D. WATUSI
USELESS EATERS
FOX FUN
@ EXIT/IN
18+ – $10
Ticket Link
This shit gon be wild this shit gon be cray. The first JEFF show to happen in the Nashville area since back at SoundLand [and we all remember how nuts that was] Since then – the guys have gone on tour with The Kills and recorded their next full length album over at Black Keys-land and built their new bus. It rules. Along with that – we’ve added our favorite dudes from around town – FOX FUN – to the show. There’s really no reason why anyone who considers themselves to be a “rock and roller” in Nashville should still have not seen these guys. They have a supposed single coming out on Turbo Time real soon and a flexi-book of Christmas singles coming out this 2012 holiday season. Okay that last one isn’t exactly true – but just wishful thinking I guess..
THE TRADITIONAL FOOLS
MIKAL CRONIN
HEAVY CREAM
THE MEN
THE CANNOMEN
@ THE END
18+ – $10
Ticket Link
We’ve said it a few times already but we think it definitely warrants being said again… THE MOTHERFUCKING TRADITIONAL FOOLS! We’re gonna lose our heads at this show. You probably will too. This is the first time that Traditional Fools and The Men will be coming through Nashville and we’re glad to show them exactly how hard we get down. We hope you’re as ready as we are. We’ve added our favorite punk band in Nashville – THE CANNOMEN – to the show and we think it’ll be the perfect kick-off point for the night. They’ve been working on some new records and songs and we can’t wait to see it. FITNA FREAK.
————————————————————————-
We’re also bringing back our favorite little POP-UP SHOP this year! We’ll be down at Local Honey [2009 Belmont Blvd] selling records/t-shirts/posters/tapes/just about anything else you could want. It’s gonna be a full-on party all day and all night. We’ll be selling released from labels like Nashville’s Dead Records, Infinity Cat Recordings, Third Man Records, Turbo Time Records, Sturdy Girls, Cass Records, Sebastian Speaks Records, Jeffrey Drag Records, Baby Don’t Records, and a lot more. And we’ll be doing it same way we did last year — on the cheap. Something different we’re doing this year is having a couple of day-time shows at The Pop-Up Shop that’ll go down in the back lot at Local Honey. We’ll post a full inventory of items later this week — but for now let’s take a look at the day shows….
FRIDAY MARCH 9 DAY SHOW
SO JAZZY
TBA
ASHER HORTON [SOLO]Â
@ THE POP-UP SHOP
$FREE – ALL AGES Â – 3PM
The first day show is gonna be going down on Friday during the day starting around 3PM. We’ll be hanging out at the shop well before that just snacking and selling records and hanging out — which you’re more than welcome to join us for. The show will feature a revived So Jazzy – back from the dead. It’s probably the only time it’s going to happen again – so don’t miss it if you’re into that kinda thing. We’re also stoked to have our favorite ASHER HORTON on the show. You might recognize him from such bands as Fox Fun or OGG — or maybe you recognize him for being the young one with the golden touch. Kid does no wrong. The show will take place in the back lot behind Local Honey [provided the weather is good – otherwise the show will happen over at The Other Basement – conveniently located just a few blocks away]
SATURDAY MARCH 10 DAY SHOW
SLAMMERS
HABIBI
OGG
@ THE POP-UP SHOP
$FREE – ALL AGES – 3PMÂ
You demanded it – so here it is. These days we consider ourselves to be extremely lucky if we can catch a Slammers show. The way all the members have other bands that usually keep them out on the road or preoccupied doesn’t allow for them to play too many shows in Nashville. Which is why we’re so psyched to have them terrorizing the back-lot at Local Honey on Saturday March 10th. There may be another addition to this show – but we’re not sure just yet. Also joining Slammers are HABIBI from New York and OGG – Nashville’s best kept power pop secret. Come and get your kicks.
————————————————————————-
Last – but certainly not least – we’d like to announce that we’ll be releasing a very special 7″ in celebration of THE FREAKIN’ WEEKEND. It’s a 4-way split 7″ of recordings from the last Glenn Danzig’s House show featuring Cy Barkley & The Way Outisders, Bad Sports, D. Watusi, and The Wax Museums. It sounds pretty brutal and gnarly – but what else would you want from a live house show recording? Glenn Danzig’s House is a place that we hold very dearly in our hearts and we think a lot of you feel the same way. We wanted to take the time to properly remember it for what it was: a place where you could come see great shows for cheap and directly support the people making the music. We miss it all the time – but such is life – and now we’ll have something to keep Glenn Danzig’s House alive forever. There will be a limited number of copies packaged in a different sleeve each with their own individual photo print from a show at Glenn Danzig’s — those will only be available at the Pop-Up Shop. Here’s what Cy has to say about it….

Well, it's time to get FrEaKy DeEkY again. THE FREAKIN' WEEKEND III is going down March 7th - 10th and you can start getting ready for it by clicking right here and checking out some of the digs we've got to offer this year. It's gonna be a party...
]]>
Ladies and gentle ladies, it is that time again… time to get your freak on. We’ve been working hard for the last while to try and get everything lined up just right, and – you know what? – we’re not even there yet. But! We’re getting close! Like reeeeally close. This year THE FREAKIN’ WEEKEND will be going down March 7th – 10th spread out between The End and Exit/In and it’s going to be a full-blown party with a LOT of your favorite local bands and some of our favorite non-local bands. We’ll drop the full schedule of events and final lineup and everything in the next week or so, but for now you can click below to check out some of this year’s acts. It has us pretty fucking excited. There’s a whole lot more bands to announce and stuff to talk about, like how we’ve got a nice little treat coming for all of you that’ll pay homage to a place we still hold dearly in our hearts [talkin’ about Glenn Danzig’s House, guys] Anyway… watch this video, check out some of the bands who are gonna be playing, and *ahem* please get hyper….
The Freakin Weekend III • March 7th – 10th • Promo from Doug Lehmann on Vimeo.
Uh huh. For real. Not even a joke or playing around with you guys. The mother-fucking TRADITIONAL FOOLS. Anytime we are down or looking for a party or looking to wild out – we throw our Traditional Fools record on. The band, comprised of a Ty Segall and a Culture Kid and another solid dude, is a veritable legend in the San Francisco area. This one-off will be their first trip to Nashville and we feel oh so lucky to have them come through. I’ve been sitting here trying to find words to adequately express my genuine excitement and all I can think is “MOTHER FUCKING TRADITIONAL FOOLS! THE FOOLS THEMSELVES! THEY’RE COMING!” I still can’t even believe it. Click here for a taste…
Do you really think we could get FrEaKy without our favorite brothers? No way. This will be the Bogus Bros first show in Nashville for the 2012 year and we feel like it’s been too long since the last time we got to bang our heads with the guys. They’ll be hot off a national tour with The Kills and recording their next full length album – so expect them to be tight and maybe even expect some new jams. On the real though – the Brothers Orrall are the reason we do most of the things we do. We’ve been self-proclaimed JEFF-heads since Day 1 and we’ll never renounce that. JEFF 4EVER.
Yep! Cincinnati’s favorite sons will be joining us this year and getting freaky deeky like they have so many times before. Their last time in Nashville was over at The Hard Rock Cafe alongside Turbo Fruits and we’ve got a feeling like this show might blow that one out of the water. They had their album, “★★★★”, come out last year courtesy of Third Man Records and took our favorite Bogus Bros out on a nice jaunt across the nation [and released that split tour-only 7″ with JEFF] In a time where so many bands are springing up and drenching their guitars and vocals in reverb and calling it “garage” — it’s nice to have bands like The Greenhornes around to remind us of what “garage” really is.
If we’ve said something once, chances are we’ve probably said it a million times. Case and point: Mikal Cronin’s self-titled album from Trouble In Mind was our favorite record to drop in the 2011 year. We’re happy to bring Mikal and the guys back through Nashville for their second time [the first being last September with Ty Segall at Exit/In] If you still haven’t checked out Mikal’s solo stuff — we really think you’re depriving yourself from experiencing some of the best pop songs to come out in the last few years. Maybe we’ll get another Flamin’ Groovies cover. Even if we don’t — it’s gonna be a party.
Patrick Stickles has taken a pretty noticeable liking to some Nashville bands. A while back he talked to the P4k about catching a Natural Child show at Death By Audio and since then he’s full-on embraced the world of Diarrhea Planet. They’re making the trip on down for their first visit to The Great Nashville Country and we totally expect things to get freaky. It was just announced earlier this week that the guys are gonna be on board for the Orion Music fest in Jersey this Summer alongside Metallica. Yeah. Get stoked!
We are so glad this is happening. Screaming Females have called Nashville their “home away from home” for a pretttty long time now and it’s a claim we’re totally down with. Like we’ve already talked about on here in past posts — they’ll be coming to town on an in-store tour to hit Grimey’s with a brand new limited 7″ under their belts to support their next full length album – Ugly. The New Jersey shredders are always welcome to party with us because they know how to turn the party out. In the last couple years, we can recount atleast 5 different times we’ve seen the dudes blow everyone out of the water — and we expect nothing less this time around either. Gonna party like it’s the end of the world — because it better be…
Perhaps the FrEaKiEsT of the freaks. Daniel Pujol and his gang are some of the hardest working dudes here and every Nashvillian knows it. Come this Spring, when his debut full-length LP comes out, we think the whole world will know it. Really though, we’ve heard bits and pieces of the brand new PUJOL album that’s slated to be released sometime in the next few months and we’re worried that this may be one of the last times we’ll be able to catch PUJOL in a smaller – more intimate venue. They’ll be heading out after Freakin’ Weekend to do the whole SXSW circuit and we’re not sure as to the next time we’ll catch them locally. So don’t miss it. God is floating in your head.
The creamiest of the dreamiest. Sort of like JEFF — it has been more than a hot minute since we last caught Heavy Cream in the Nashy, which makes us even more excited to have them getting freaky. They recorded their brand new record back in December with Mr. Ty Segall in San Francisco [you can read all about it from Tiffany Minton’s recollections right here] and from what we’ve heard – shit’s about to get tough. They also just announced a pretty hefty tour with our buddies Hunx & His Punx that’ll keep them busy for the rest of the March and April months. If there’s one thing we’ve come to always know and expect from Heavy Cream, it’s that they’ll be bringing the party with them. Get ready to get wild.
The guys… sorry… Men are making their way through the Southern parts of the US for the first time and it’s bringing them straight through Nashville in time to get freaky. They’ve got a brand new LP coming out via Sacred Bones a couple days before their arrival here and you can check out the single from it right here [Remember? We posted about it like 2 weeks ago] It’s hard to nail down an accurate label for the guys since they’re capable of spanning so many different genres from punk to grunge to heavy noise to weird harsh pop – it rules. We’re hoping to bring them through again sometime so this won’t be their only Nashville appearance.
Everyone in town knows that Diarrhea Planet are calling the shots and busting the balls. They don’t plan on stopping anytime soon either. They’ve already hinted a few times via their blog that they’re going to be total road dogs this year; touring with JEFF the Brotherhood, Mean Jeans, and maybe a couple others that they’ll be able to talk about soonish. We’re stoked to have the guys back for a second year in a row. Since they’ve been touring so much in support of Loose Jewels, we haven’t been able to meet our usual quota of DP shows. We’ve had to scale it back a good bit and we’re sure you’re experiencing similar withdrawals — but not any more. Fiddin’ to freak…

Sort of the same case as Mikal Cronin with this one – Seth Sutton [aka Useless Eaters] put out some of the best records of anyone in the nation last year [you probably remember us gabbing about Daily Commute a whole lot because – well – we did] Seth’s been keeping himself extremely busy between playing with Heavy Cream and doing Feral Beat and Useless Eaters — and now announcing that he’ll be joining Peach Kelli Pop on tour this April. Eaters have plans on releasing more records this year including C’est Bon! from Southpaw Records and a new EP from Jolly Dream Records. This show will be a special one featuring an older lineup — so get stoked.
By the time this show comes around – we’ll probably have to change this post and the labels of a bunch of records because they’ll be changing their name. Don’t expect anything else to change though. They’ll still be packing one of the best live shows you’ll be able to catch anywhere. The Memphis creeps will be bringing their game to Nashy and that’s always an occasion worth getting fucking stoked for. They’ve been working on some new songs and prepping themselves for a trip to SXSW and we think a full length album is within sight for the guys. We’re gonna also suggest that you not wear your studded boots and spikes because that shit hurts when we land on you and when you land on us. Whatever — bring your chains
Like just about everyone else we’ve announced so far, Cy and the boys have a brand new record dropping this year that’s going to blow your mind. It’ll be released via our favorite Nashville label – Infinity Cat Recordings – sometime this Spring. In the last year, we’ve seen Cy’s lineup change a little and we’ve definitely witnessed a lot of growth as they’ve been developing their own sound that’s distinguishably “Way Outsider” but also “punk as fuck.” They’ll be featured on that special NDR treat that we hinted at so long ago in this giant post and we think they outshine everyone else on it. Get your kicks… Cy Barkley is coming for you
We don’t have enough fingers or hands to count how many shows D. Watusi has played in Nashville over the last year. They’ve spent a nice chunk of time this Winter getting things recorded and ready for their debut album, DARK PARTY, which we’ll hopefully see release sometime this Summer. They’re also planning on hitting the road again a few times this Summer with our favorite Paperhead – so be on the lookout for that. We’re stoked to have them on board this year to get FrEakY because if anyone in town likes to get down — it’s these losers.
Oh baby buddy boy, we think we’ve found one of our newest favorite bands in Nashville. The Ranch Ghost dudes have been straight gooning and killing it around town for the last few months. If you didn’t catch them a little while back at our Zombie Shop party — you truly missed out. They’ve got a brand new single that should be out by the time of FREAKIN’ WEEKEND so keep your fingers crossed on that. We’ll be including a lot more of the “newer” local bands in this year’s festivities because that’s kind of what this whole thing is about: celebrating your brothers and sisters in the rock and roll family and helping everyone grow in a positive direction.
Speaking of newer bands around town that have us excited – let’s talk about Dirty Dreams. We think there’s a whole lot of people in the Nashville area who’ve yet to check out the Dreamers and that’s such a shame because they’re doing stuff around here like no one else is. It’s like a shoegaze-y pop vibe but with a weird grit to it. Obviously – we know exactly how to explain it. We’ve heard a couple rumors around town about potential releases from the guys – but there’s nothing on the books just yet. Let’s go ahead and cross our fingers…
Like we mentioned earlier — we’ve got a WHOLE LOT more to announce and talk about. So just go ahead and mark your calendars and get yourselves ready for another wild party. WE GON GET FREAKY! WE GON BE HIGH-FLYING ALL WEEKEND AND SLINGING RECORDS AND HAVING FUN WITH OUR BUDDIES BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DO. GET DOWN. GET FREAKY.
]]>
The FREAKIN' WEEKEND is back the weekend of March 4th, 5th, and 6th and it's gonna rule! Click down there to get the whole scoop...
]]>Here’s a little rundown of all the bands playing this year’s get together. We still have a lot of things in store for the weekend that we’ll be talking about more as it approaches, but for now just check out this stuff and get stoked. We will be printing posters like the one above [designed by David Czyz] and selling them and we will be partying so hard. We’re also introducing The King of the FREAKIN’ WEEKEND this year. More on that later though…
We’re so stoked for this. The first JEFF show in Nashville this year will happen on the first night of the FREAKIN’ WEEKEND, and it should be right around We Are The Champions time. The bogus bros will be leaving shortly after to go to SXSW and show everyone that the name of their record is much more fact than opinion. Is there anything else we need to say? Didn’t think so.
JACUZZI BOYS
Bienvenidos a Miami [That means “let’s party hard like they do in Miami like Will Smith” in Spanish] Our favorite Jacuzzi Boys are coming up to play this year and we always love having them around. The beginning of March is the beginning of Spring and there’s not a band we’d rather welcome the new season in with. Except maybe all these bands together.
CY BARKLEY & THE WAY OUTSIDERS
Cy Barkley has been blowing us away for the last while and we’re stoked to have them be a part of the weekend. They’ve been working on a whole bunch of new jams that’re some of the best songs we’ve heard from a Nashville band in a little while. If you haven’t had a chance to catch them or grab their S/T 7″, this is the perfect opportunity.
DIARRHEA PLANET
Ohhh, those Diarrhea boys. We did the math and after all the calculations, it looks like Diarrhea Planet has played about one million shows in the last year. Not really, but you know. Their debut EP, Aloha!, just got a vinyl release from our buddies up at Evil Weevil and they’ve got a lot more in store for this year. Meeeeow.
TY SEGALL
AWWW YEAH! Last year we said that our favorite show to go down was Ty Segall playing at The End [a bunch of other people said that too] But we think this show might blow that one out of the water. Ty will have just wrapped up some cruzing and he wanted to stop through Nashville before heading out with everyone’s favorite dream Cremes.
HEAVY CREAM
Everything’s better with cream. We like our fun and our rock and roll with a little cream in it, don’t you? The babes have been working on a lot of new stuff over the past few months and we think it’s some of their best yet. They’ve got a new single coming this Spring courtesy of Infinity Cat, so be on the lookout for that too.
PUJOL
This time last year, Daniel Pujol had 0 vinyl releases under his belt. Now he has 9? We may have miscounted that, but not by much. Insane. Doesn’t look like there’s going to be any slowing down this year either. The boys are doing some tours beforehand with Monotonix before the weekend and before heading to SXSW, so get stoked on seeing them.
D. WATUSI
You all ready know how we feel about these guys. We’re putting out their single [It should be available at this show] and we’re more stoked on this band than any new band that we can remember. Word on the street is that they’ve got another single lined up and are working out plans for a tour this summer. Watusiii
SLAMMERS
By the time this show happens, Slammers will have probably played 4 shows. Slammers are a band that make you wonder how you got to be so lucky as to see them or hear them. That’s the truth. Featuring members of Heavy Cream, JEFF, Cy Barkley, and The Cannomen, you know it just might be too good to be true.
DAVILA 666
It’s been almost two years since the last time Davila rolled through town, so we’re super stoked to have them come through again. Their new record, Tan Bajo, is coming out a few weeks before from In The Red and it rules. Their show that night will be at Springwater [sorry kiddens] But we do have good news, they’ll be playing an early show at Third Man. More about that later on though…
TURBO FRUITS
Is it possible to play more shows than numbers exist? If it is, we’re pretty sure Turbo Fruits surpassed that a year or so ago. We’re lucky enough to get them wrangled down for a show here in between a couple tours and if it’s anything like the last few Turbo Fruits shows — it’s gonna be one that you’ll wanna make sure you’re at.
NATURAL CHILD
We are Natural Children until we die. We say that all the time because it is the truth all the time. They’ve been working hard for the last while getting their full length debut, 1971, prepped for release and we may be more excited about that than just about anything else this year. We’ll give you the scoop sometime soon, we promise.
THE CANNOMEN
The best punk band in Nashville, The Cannomen, have been killing it for a while now and we’re psyched to have them on the bill. They had a new single come out earlier this year [which you can pick up at Grimey’s for very cheap] and have another one on the way. The more the better. That’s the saying, right?
DENNEY & THE JETS
If we had the resources, we’d do a Behind The Music story on Denney & The Jets and it would be the most badass thing ever. They’ve been playing around town again with a load of new songs and it looks like they’ll definitely be releasing some wax this year too. All we can say about that is… it’s about time.
So there you have it! Stay tuned and stay stoked, things are only gonna get crazier from here. And now here is the official FREAKIN’ WEEKEND inspirational vid…
