Cinco de Mayo: not much of a cultural holiday around these parts, but who has ever fought an excuse to enjoy margs in mugs and migas for dinner, amirite? Bittersweet week ahead. Some Pepper is at Betty’s tonight, cosmic bi-coastal busker The Space Lady is at Fond Object on Wednesday, and Thursday is the Mississippi Records presentation at Third Man (more on that later). If you’ve got $$ to spend, you could see Jessica Pratt’s opening slot at Exit/In on Friday, but if not, Harvest Team at Betty’s ain’t a bad (albeit 180° difference) alternative. Finally, Sunday will bring the last show at Rat Snake Lodge. Some of our best, most memorable show experiences of the last year were at that house, and we’re truly bummed to see it go. Respect and thanks to those who kept it going as long as they could. Now if we could just get Lair and Gashrat to come back through….
