IT’S TUESDAY NOW

DANIEL PUJOL – Too Safe from Stewart Copeland on Vimeo.

Just when you think you’ve heard and seen all there is to hear and see about Daniel Pujol, this little gem pops up. It’s another music video – this time directed by Stewart Copeland for the song “Too Safe”. We’re gonna step out on a limb and say that we think they shot this at the Renaissance Fair a couple weeks ago. Pujol and co. have been recording the hits the last few days and, hopefully, we’ll have more news as to when you can expect to hear it soon. Until then, enjoy the vids. Here’s where you can check out Mr. Cj Giordano’s video for “Mission From God”

GOOD TIMES ALL ZE TIME [IN PICS]

Ex Humans and Crusaders of Love at Percy Preist Lake | Photos by Bekah Cope

This last Tuesday brought a bunch of short-haired punks from Brooklyn/Atlanta and a bunch of long-haired Frenchies to Glenn Danzig’s House and you’d maybe think those two things don’t go well together, but you’d be wrong. Everyone killed it that night. We don’t know if we’ve said this already, but Cy Barkley’s newest songs are some of the best steez we’ve heard in a bit around here. It’s like the new lineup has channeled their brainwaves and vibeminds to produce some of the catchiest riff-jams just in time for summer. And the last couple times we’ve seen Denney we’ve thought “Baby baby. This is what Strange Boys sounded like when they first started out except tougher and more don’t-give-a-fuck.” Anyways —- enough. Let’s look at some of Bekah’s photos.

WHITE MYSTERY

You know we love our sib-sym bands, and one that’s come up in the last little while that we’re stoked on is White Mystery. The red headed duo, Alex White [of Miss Alex White & The Red Orchestra, The Red Lights, Hot Machines, Candy Apple Killings, Forestbride, and Missile X Records.... sheesh] and her brobro Francis, have been playing around the Chicago area for a bit now and have definitely sparked the interest of some big-wigs ’round town. They put out their debut 7″ just a while ago on Chicago-based HoZac and just put out their debut self-released LP. Both of them are killer. And the live show’s even better. It’s like raw soulful garage rock that doesn’t let you go, know what I mean? Basically, it’s what you wanna hear. That Alex White is a real busy lady too. If you haven’t checked out her previous band [the one we mentioned earlier -- Miss Alex White & The Red Orchestra] you oughtta. Not only that but we know that bebe’s a total button fiend.

Scoop up their debut LP here. Rumor on the street is that the gingers are hitting Nashy in mid-August. As always — we’ll keep you posted.

CRUSADERS OF SUMMER LOVIN’

So LOST is over and I guess they were always dead or they’re all dead now or maybe they’re stuck in space or maybe they finally made it to that KISS concert and their moms quit giving them so much guff. Anyways, that means your Tuesday nights are now open forever. The boys at Glenn Danzig’s House saw this one coming from a mile away and figured they’d setup a sick show for you to go see to fill the void that LOST has left in your hearts. Plus, it’s summertime now and it’s time to go get some summer lovin’ at a house show. That is the best part of summer, right? Hanging with the bad boys at the shows and stuff? Yeah OK we’ll see you there. This is also Denney & The Jets’s cassette release show for Devil’s Harvest. We’ve heard it and it’s really really good. Definite summer soundtrack material.

THE SPITS [IN PICS]

Since we caught The Spits a couple times during SXSW we’ve been on pins and needles in excitement waiting for them to come to Nashy. Last Friday they finally did and it was best show we’ve seen in a long time. Some of the pictures are a little foggy, but you know the saying — “When there’s fog, it’s always Friday night.” If you were there then you know how sick the party was. Bad babe photographer, Bekah Cope, was there snapping shots and managed to get some sweet photos despite all the fog…

Seriously, like very very seriously, that Spits show this weekend was the most fun we’ve had in a long time. We even saved everyone’s setlists so one day when we make a big Nashville’s Dead scrapbook all Martha Stewart stylee, we can put them in there. This week doesn’t look like it’s gonna disappoint either. We know most uh yous are going down to Tejas for some Chaos [we're mondo jealous] but there’s plenty for the people sticking around here [Crusaders of Love, Ex Humans, Pentagram, and all your favorite locals]

SCHOOL JERKS TONIGHT!

Yeah yeah we know it’s super last minute to spring this on you guys, but whatever. The Torontonians are back in Nashy tonight and playing over at The Parsonage with one of our favorite new Nashville bands, Syrian Nukes Over Disneyland. They played that Southside Stranglers show a couple weeks ago and blew everyone away. Just a bunch of high school kids that sound like D.R.I, no big deal.  Kind of a big deal. Anyways, get out there and hit it.
