Oh those swanky babes over at Third Man have got something sweet cooked up for Nashville tomorrow. Dex Romweber Duo are doing an in-store there tomorrow afternoon for free and there’s a lot of other crazy stuff they’re doing for it. Our resident Dex Romwember Duo fanatic, Dillon, will tell you all about it….
Dex Romweber is a living legend. His voice and guitar playing are of another time, and at his shows you can’t help but feel like you’re seeing something special, something you normally shouldn’t be able to experience. From his time spent as frontman for the Flat Duo Jets to his ever-promising work in the Dex Romweber Duo, I challenge you to find a time Dex didn’t reign supreme over his contemporaries. Of course, I am a bit biased. At the age that most kids were listening to Kill ‘Em All, I was listening to Go Go Harlem Baby. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up to question, but it does mean that I am way more stoked for this Thursday than I probably should be.
That’s because Dex Romweber Duo will be performing at Third Man Records this Thursday. It’s free, all ages, and starts at 6 o’clock. As if a free show by someone of Dex’s stature isn’t enough, they will be recording the set straight to 8-track analog reel-to-reel tape. Said recordings then will be released as the first part in the Third Man Live series. Attendees of the show will have an opportunity to purchase a limited-edition, split-colored vinyl LP of the concert (half-black, half-blue), of which only 300 copies will be pressed. If you can’t make the show, you can pick it up in classy black vinyl later on, but it will only be available at Third Man’s brick and mortar storefront. That’s right, no eStores, no Amazon, no nothin’. Nashville REPRESENT.
Oh yeah, and they’re filming the whole thing and you’ll be able to watch it over at the Third Man site for pay-per-view. These guys know how to take it to the top. Dex is playing later that night at The Basement. Hit it up!
